Literature: Examining Conscience

Students read and learn from the literature featured in this course while evaluating plots, themes, characters, settings, and approaches according to gospel standards. Instruction helps students recognize qualities of good writing and emulate those qualities in their own writing. Readings introduce themes of compassion, understanding, imagination, and refined judgment. Texts include Julius Caesar, The Scarlet Letter, Beowulf, and Rip Van Winkle.
