Tuition and Fees

We price by the course, not by the year. Families enroll in what their student actually needs, whether that is a full load or a single class, and pay only for that. There is no application fee and no enrollment fee, and official transcripts are free.

What a course costs

Tuition is charged per term. A term is one semester of a Live course or one segment of a MyPace course. Full-credit courses run two terms; half-credit courses run one.

Delivery mode Per term Full-credit course Half-credit course
Live Online Scheduled classes with a teacher and classmates $399 / semester $798 / year $399
MyPace Self-paced, start any time, six months per segment $299 / segment $598 / year $299
Non-Credit Full course access without transcript credit $99 / segment $198 / year $99

What a full year costs

Graduation takes 25 credits, or 26 for the class of 2028 and later, which works out to about six credits a year. Live sections exist for 13 of our courses, mostly in science, writing, AHS Life, and electives, while history, math, and most English courses run MyPace. So a realistic schedule is mostly MyPace with a course or two Live, and these examples reflect that rather than a hypothetical all-Live year.

All MyPace $3,588 6 full-credit courses at $598 The most common full-time year
Typical mix $3,788 1 Live course at $798, 5 MyPace at $598 What most full-time families actually build
Live-heavy $3,988 2 Live courses at $798, 4 MyPace at $598 About as much Live as a schedule allows in one year
One course, part-time $299 One MyPace segment No full-time commitment required

Ways to pay

Tuition is due per term rather than as one annual bill, which already spreads the cost. If you need it spread further, you can set that up yourself at checkout in a couple of minutes.

Pay in full Pay for each term at enrollment. Nothing further to think about.
Pay over time with Shop Pay Split a term into 2 or 4 interest-free payments, or choose a monthly plan of 3 to 12 months. You set it up yourself at checkout; no call and no paperwork with us.
State funding If your state has an education savings account or scholarship program, an approved award can cover tuition in full. See state funding options
Term by term Because we charge per term, you can also simply pay as each segment or semester begins.

Policies

Refunds

Live courses: a full refund is available through the first ten school days of the semester, less the $20 course drop fee. After the tenth school day, tuition for that semester is not refundable.

MyPace courses: a full refund is available for twenty-one calendar days from the date you register, less the $20 course drop fee. After twenty-one days, that segment is not refundable.

The drop fee is waived when a student replaces the course with a different one. Refunds go back to the original payment method and can take up to six weeks to appear.

Payment processing fees are not refundable. Our payment processor keeps its fee on a purchase whether or not that purchase is later reversed, so a refund is issued less the processing fee charged on the original payment. The fee is larger on payments made over time than on a single card payment. We will tell you the exact amount when we process your refund.

Dropping or changing a course

Email the registrar at registrar@ahsmail.com to drop or swap a course. Swaps made inside the refund window carry no fee at all. A drop that is not replaced carries the $20 fee.

A course dropped after the refund window stays on the record as a withdrawal and the tuition stands.

MyPace extensions

Each MyPace segment comes with six months to finish. If life gets in the way, a $35 extension buys more time rather than forcing a restart. Ask before the segment closes; extensions are easier to grant than re-enrollments are to undo.

Paying over time with Shop Pay

At checkout you can split a purchase into 2 or 4 payments at 0% APR, taken every two weeks. A single MyPace segment at $299 becomes four payments of about $75; a full-credit course at $598 becomes about $150 each. Nothing is added to what you would otherwise pay.

For a larger balance you can instead choose a monthly plan of 3 to 12 months. Monthly plans carry interest, from 6% to 36% APR depending on the plan and your eligibility. The rate, the payment, and the total are all shown before you agree to anything.

Shop Pay Installments is provided by Affirm and is available to customers in the United States on orders between $35 and $30,000. Approval and terms are set by Affirm, not by us, and we never see your credit information. Your student is enrolled immediately either way. If a course paid this way is later refunded, note that the processing fee on the original payment is not returned and is deducted from the refund; that fee is higher for payments made over time.

Late and returned payments

A late payment adds $10, and a returned payment adds $20. An account that stays unpaid for a full month may have enrollment suspended, so tell us early if something has gone wrong. We would rather rework a payment schedule than remove a student from a course.

Exceptions

Illness, deployment, a family move, and other genuine hardships are real, and these policies are not meant to punish them. Write to the registrar with the circumstances and the head of school will review it. Decisions are returned in writing.

State funding may cover this

Nine states now fund private and online school tuition through education savings accounts and scholarship programs, and we are approved in all nine. If your state has a program, an approved award can cover your tuition in full.

See state funding options

Live sections are not offered for every course. Where a course has no Live option, it is available as MyPace. Non-Credit enrollment gives full access to a course but does not earn transcript credit and does not count toward graduation requirements.

Tuition is charged at enrollment, per term. Prices are for the 2026–2027 school year and are subject to change. Campus Connect is billed separately by semester.
